Christian County Outscores Lady Lyons 13-10

The Christian County Lady Colonels and the Lyon County Lady Lyons tested most of the lights on the scoreboard at Lee S. Jones Park Monday evening. The Lady Lyons rallied late but came up just short as the Lady Colonels took the high-scoring contest 13-10.

The two teams finished the night with 30 hits, 12 from Christian County and 18 from the Lady Lyons. Field issues were a big factor in the game as Lyon County was charged with four errors which allowed Christian County to score four unearned runs.

Christian County came out of the gate ready to roll, scoring five runs in the top of the first. Lyon County battled back and cut the lead to one at 6-5 after two innings.

The Lady Colonels’ lead was 8-6 heading into the top of the sixth. Christian County erupted for five runs to push the lead out to 13-6.

Lyon County scored two in the bottom half of the inning to trim the lead to 13-8. The Lady Lyons scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 13-10 game and bring the tying run to the plate. But the rally ended when Gracie Harned got Gracen Wynn to ground out to third to end the game.

Jordan Turner led the Christian County effort, going 2-2 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs. Alyssa Petterson finished 3-4 with a double and two runs scored. Jada Miller was 3-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Jazzy Tejada ended up 1-4 with a home run for the Lady Colonels.

Lilly Perry had a big night for Lyon County, going 5-5 with 4 RBIs. Courtney Collins ended up 3-3 with an RBI and five runs scored. Lauren Davis was 2-5. Jenna Coursey also finished 2-5 and had three RBIs.

Gracie Harned picked up the win in relief for Christian County. She went five innings, giving up five runs on 11 hits, striking out three and walking two.

Christian County improves to 18-12-1, while Lyon County drops to 14-16.
