This week’s Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ for the week of May 6 is Andrew Mayes, of Hopkinsville High School. Andrew was selected based on his performance in the Tigers’ May 10th 2-1 win over crosstown rival Christian County.
Mayes delivered a dominant performance on the mound in leading his team to the big district win and in turn denying the Colonels a chance to clinch the top seed in the district tournament.
Mayes earned his fifth win of the season, allowing a single unearned run on a pair of hits with two walks. He also struck out five batters in the game.
The Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ is selected each week from one of the five schools in Christian County (Christian County, Hopkinsville, University Heights, Christian County, and Fort Campbell) based on their performance in a big game or event for their team that week.
