Georgia Amoore (4) with her family.
All-American Georgia Amoore will be part of the Australian national team playing games in China on a tour from May 26 to June 3 as part of the selection process for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
The Australian team has a mix of seasoned and new players and will mark the debut for Amoore. She was sensational at Virginia Tech and averaged 18.8 points and 6.8 assists per game last season before recently transferring to Kentucky when coach Kenny Brooks left Tech for the Bluegrass.
Amoore is still in the United States but is preparing to head to Australia to join her teammates in a “few days” to depart for China.
The national team has a bevy of players who have already had Olympic experience for Australia.
Amoore admitted on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports Talk that she had “zero idea” about her chances of making the Olympic team.
“Honestly I have no idea on making the team,” she said.
She does have a much better idea of what type of competition she’ll face in the SEC on a nightly basis. She played against Tennessee, LSU and Kentucky while she was at Virginia Tech.
“I know it is a high motor, high power league. These girls are athletes who play a whole new brand of basketball,” Amoore said. “I am prepared for a new chapter. It is exciting. Four years in the ACC was fun. My time there was great but a change will prepare me for future endeavors (in professional basketball).”

We will win at least 24 games this year and we should be better every year.
