It took 11 innings, but the Christian County Lady Colonels eventually captured their 19th win of the season on Wednesday.
Jordan Turner struck out the side with runners at first and second in the bottom of the 11th to finally finish off a 5-4 win at Calloway County.
The teams had gone eight innings earlier this season in Hopkinsville before the Lady Colonels pulled out a 2-1 victory.
Bunts by Alyssa Petterson and Alison Grant allowed Anaysia Bagwell to score from second base in the top of the 11th to give Christian its 5-4 lead.
Turner and Calloway’s Hailee Jones combined to put up zeroes for seven innings.
It wasn’t until the international tiebreaker rule came into effect in extra innings that the teams were able to dent home plate.
Avery Adcock and Gracie Harned had RBI doubles in the top of the eighth to put the Lady Colonels up 2-0.
Calloway countered with a two-out, two-run single by Bailee Grogan in the bottom of the frame to extend the game.
Christian went up 3-2 in the ninth with an unearned run in the top of the inning.
Jaylee McLeod singled home a run in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at 3-3.
A sacrifice fly by Chloe Almy in the 10th gave the Lady Colonels a 4-3 lead.
Preslee Phillips picked up an RBI for Calloway in the bottom of the 10th when she grounded into a fielder’s choice to first base. That sent the game to the 11th tied 4-4.
Turner struck out 15 and allowed just four base hits to pick up the win in the circle. She walked three and did not allowed an earned run.
Jones struck out 14 for Calloway. She gave up one earned run on six base hits while walking six.
Adcock and Harned were each 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Colonels.
Christian is now 19-12-1 while Calloway is 8-13.
The Lady Colonels will hit the road again on Thursday when they visit Logan County.
