One of the most frustrating parts of the college football season to me has always been having to wait until less than two weeks before a game is to be played to find out what time the game will actually start. Thankfully that changes this season now that the Southeastern Conference has a new television contract with ABC-TV.

The SEC has already announced kickoff times for UK’s first two SEC games. The Cats will host South Carolina at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 7 and then host Georgia Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Both games are set for ABC/ESPN3.

No kickoff time has been set for UK’s season-opening game Aug. 31 at Kroger Field against Southern Mississippi.

The SEC previously had a contract with CBS-TV before switching this year to ABC-TV, which is owned by ESPN, on a 10-year deal that will run through 2033-34. That move is why kickoff times will be announced earlier with more kickoff times expected to be announced soon.

Kentucky fans now will find out much earlier if UK is playing at noon or at 7:30 p.m. to make game day trips a lot, lot easier.
