Caldwell’s Girls Nip Ballard Memorial 1-0 in 8 Innings

Adley Lewis drove in the game’s only run with a sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the eighth inning as Caldwell County’s girls beat Ballard Memorial Thursday in Princeton.

The Lady Tigers improved to 18-15 with the victory, guaranteeing them a winning season.

The teams posted zeroes until Caldwell’s final at bat.

Brylee Butts was placed at second base to start the inning on the international tiebreaker rule. A sacrifice bunt by Harper Holeman moved Butts to third with one out.

Lewis followed with her fly ball to right that was deep enough for Butts to tag up and score the game-winning run.

Jackie Farmer was the winning pitcher for Caldwell after blanking the Lady Bombers on one base hit in the top of the eighth inning,

That was after Alexis Wood tossed the first seven innings, giving up five hits while striking out three and walking one.

Madyson Bohde went the distance in the circle for Ballard. She struck out eight while allowing four base hits and three walks,

The game was a late addition to the schedule.

Caldwell holds a 5-2 lead in the all-time series.

Caldwell’s girls will finish the regular season at home on Friday against Ohio County.
