The day before graduation, Trigg County’s Kahmani Bush got an additional graduation present. The Wildcat senior signed his papers to continue his educational and athletic career on the collegiate level playing sprint football at Midway University.

Bush played in 7 games for Trigg County in 2023, catching 7 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Bush recovered two fumbles, returning one for a score.

Sprint Football is a full-contact, intercollegiate, varsity sport and has the same rules as regular college football, except that all players must weigh 178.0 pounds or less.

Since 1934, intercollegiate student-athletes have participated in sprint football as a part of the nine-member Collegiate Sprint Football League. The Midwest Sprint Football League formed in 2022 and represented the largest single-year expansion of the sport in nearly 90 years.

The charter members of the MSFL were Bellarmine University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, Fontbonne University, Midway University, Quincy University, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Oakland City University has since joined the conference.
