Lyon County continued its 5th District dominance with a fifth straight baseball title on Tuesday, downing Crittenden County 10-0 in five innings.
The fifth straight title is a school record for Lyon County. They rolled through the district slate unbeaten and outscored their opponents 95-8.
The win was Lyon’s 35th straight against district opposition dating back to 2019 and Lyon has won seven of their last 10 district tournament games via the mercy rule.
On Tuesday in Smithland, the Lyons scored in every inning but the first. Austin Spears homered and doubled as part of a four-RBI night. His home run was his 10th of the season – the most since Brody Williams hit 12 in 2022.
Korben Lucas doubled twice including a rocket off the top of the right field fence for the second straight night. Peyton Williams added a double and two RBI.
Up 5-0 in the third inning, Lyon County added five more in the fourth.

Brady Belt followed up Eli Baker’s no-hitter on Monday with a three-hit shutout. He fanned eight and walked just one. He lowered his season ERA to 0.89 and improved to 6-0.
Crittenden County (18-14) was coming off a 9-8 semifinal win over Livingston Central and will make its sixth region tournament appearance in eight seasons. The Rockets will play district winners University Heights Academy (23-11), Caldwell County (27-6), or Union County (12-23) in the first round of the region tournament next week at Hopkinsville High School. The Rockets were 0-4 against those teams with two of the losses coming to Caldwell County.
Lyon County (22-6) has topped 20 wins for five straight seasons. They will meet Hopkinsville (19-9), Madisonville-North Hopkins (14-17), or Henderson County (10-24) in the region’s first round. The Lyons only played Hopkinsville among those three, losing to the Tigers 2-0 in the season opener on March 11.
