Last season, as part of a doubles entry for Lyon County High School, Jackson Crawford made his first trip to the Boys’ State Tennis Tournament. This year, playing with fellow senior Zach Radivonyk, he got to repeat the trip and take it one step further.
Radivonyk and Crawford, who won the 2nd Region tournament this year, advanced to the Round of 32 at the state tournament Tuesday in Lexington, completing a strong season for the duo, who were playing their first year as doubles partners.
The pair opened their day Tuesday with a match against Trey McCoomer and Steven Durbin, from Louisville DeSales. The Lyon County pair controlled the match and rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win, moving on to the second round of play later in the day.
The Round of 32 saw things get much tougher for the Lyon County pair as they had to face off against the overall #2 seed of the tournament, Nathaniel Hill and Quinn Maguet, from Corbin High School. The Corbin entry showed why they were the second seed in the event as they took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Crawford and Radivonyk, ending a very successful 2024 run for the pair.
The boys matches were played Tuesday at the University of Kentucky.
