Caldwell County’s Ryan Hammett played in the KHSAA State Championships in Lexington for the fourth straight year on Tuesday.

Hammett, the 2nd Region singles champion, got a difficult draw at state, though.

Hammett drew the No. 4 seed at state, Colby Berson of Louisville Collegiate.

Hammett played well, but dropped a 6-love, 6-1 decision to Berson, who reached the state finals in doubles last year.

Hammett was at the state tournament for the third time as the 2nd Region singles champion. He played in his first state tournament as a freshman as part of a regional doubles championship.
