Union County’s Crowdus Wins State Pole Vault Title (w/PHOTOS)

Union County eighth grader Cooper Crowdus won the pole vault at Friday’s Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Class 2A State Track and Field Meet.

He cleared 13 feet, 6 inches on his third and final try to break a three-way toe for first place and set a new school record.

Koleby Schroeder finished second in the long jump at 21 feet, 4.5 inches. He was also 10th in the triple jump at 41 feet and a half inches and 13th in the high jump at 5 feet 8 inches.

Rylan George was sixth in the 400 meters in 51.19 seconds, equaling his school record time run at the region meet. George also finished in 20th place in the 200 meters in 23.71 seconds.

Caedyn Word was 11th in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 8.25 inches – seventh best in school history.

Cameron Miller was 21st in the triple jump at 38 feet and a quarter inch.

The 400-meter relay team of Duncan Mills, Willem McPeake Cameron Miller, and Rylan George came in sixth place with a time of 44.53 seconds.

The Braves finished in ninth place with 24 points.

Union County had one girls’ relay team qualify for the state meet. The 3200-meter relay team of Sarah Jones, Gracie Rhude, Audrey Burgess, and Isabella Graham finished in 21st place with a time of 12:23.64.
