
Lyon County junior Eli Baker was recognized Wednesday night in Hopkinsville as the 2nd Region Player of the Year.
Baker was acknowledged on the field following the championship game of the regional baseball tournament.
Baker compiled a 6-2 record on the mound with a 1.27 earned run average in 2024. He struck out 73 in 55.1 innings.
The Radford University commit was also a big threat at the plate, hitting .337 with 18 extra-base hits, including two home runs. He drove in 17 runs and stole 15 bases in 16 attempts.
Baker helped the Lyons go 22-7 while also earning an All A Classic state runner-up finish.
The Lyon season also included a 15-game winning streak and a fifth-straight 5th District championship.
Baker tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 in the district finals.
Caldwell County’s Josh Young was recognized as 2nd Region Coach of the Year.
Awards were presented by 2nd Region coaches.
