The Christian County Colonels were presented the 2nd Region Pennyrile Umpires Association Team Sportsmanship Award earlier this week.

The honor was announced during the semifinals of the regional baseball tournament Tuesday at Hopkinsville High School.

“The 2nd Region Pennyrile Umpires Association is delighted to recognize a team that has exemplified outstanding sportsmanship and hospitality throughout the season. The essence of sportsmanship lies in fair play, respect for opponents, and gracious behavior, both in victory and defeat. This year, the Christian County Colonels Baseball Team has demonstrated these qualities on and off the field,” the organization posted on social media.

“Their commitment to integrity, teamwork, and respect for the game and their competitors has set a high standard for others to follow. Whether in the dugout, on the field, or interacting with fans and officials, the Colonels have consistently shown what it means to play the game with honor.”
