McCarley Has Colonels’ Top Finish at State Meet (w/PHOTOS)

Christopher McCarley had the top finish for the Christian County track and field team at Saturday’s Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Class 3A State Meet in Lexington.

McCarley advanced to the discus throw finals and finished in ninth place – one spot shy of a medal. His best toss of the day was 141 feet, 3 inches. The junior holds two of the three best marks in school history with Saturday’s distance ranking third.

Satona Bailey finished 17th in the 100-meter dash in 11.27 seconds and 18th in the 200-meter dash in 22.86 seconds. Bailey, a freshman, became the first Colonel runner to dip under 11 seconds in the 100 meters earlier this year. His 200 time on Saturday was the eighth fastest in program history and .65 seconds shy of Tre Blanton’s 2023 record.

Christian County had two girls’ relay teams take the University of Kentucky track.

The group of Kaidence Atwell, Jazmyn Rodriguez, Symeria Brown, and Jayda Johnson finished 14th in a very competitive 800-meter relay with a season-best time of 1:48.80. Only 1.5 seconds separated seventh from 14th place.

They also took 22nd place in the 400-meter relay in 52.20 seconds.
