“Her ability to ball control is a huge compliment to her ability to score at the net with her lethal arm and block. Hannah embodies what we look for as a human being and will be an amazing addition to the program.”

The 6-1 Benjamin has played for USA Volleyball at the youth level. Benjamin hit .497 in her junior and senior years of high school combined .

The Kentucky volleyball team just returned from an exhibition trip to Japan but Benjamin did not make the trip.

“She was hurt in our first practice before we went. It was very unfortunate,” Kentucky coach Craig Skinner said on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports Talk.

She had surgery Tuesday and Skinner said she “likely” will be out for the season.

“She’s a great kid and competitor. It was a pretty straight forward surgery but it is still a total bummer for her and us,” the UK coach said.
