It should be no surprise that Kentucky commit Maddyn Greenway was one of the biggest risers when 247Sports updated its recruiting rankings for the 2026 class.
The junior guard who led Providence (Minn.) Academy vaulted into the top 10 of the recent rankings at No. 8. She has started on the varsity team for five years and has 4,454 points in 153 games — an average of 29.1 points per game. She also has 1,036 assists along with 999 rebounds and 645 steals. She’s made 355 3-pointers.
Greenway averaged 32.8 points per game last season and scored 1,050 points in 32 games — her third straight year with more than 1,000 points. She shot 58.6 percent from 2-point range, 37.7 percent from 3 and 52 percent overall. She had 278 assists, 232 rebounds and 155 steals.
Her team went undefeated and won its fourth straight state title, something no other Minnesota high school team had ever done, and she scored 14 unanswered points in the title game sparked by four steals. She finished with 40 points on 16 of 27 shooting, six steals and five assists.
247Sports analyst Brandon Clay wrote this about Greenway’s top 10 ranking:
“Greenway has vaulted her way into the top-10 with her consistency at the point guard spot. She moves around the court as well as any guard in the county. And, her presence and speed are real difference-makers for her at the position. As a result, she’s been a fixture amongst the best players in the class dating back to last year’s USA Basketball trials. This, along with her fantastic start to Nike EYBL play this year (15.6 points and 6.3 assists per game), has prompted her current climb in the rankings.
“As a Kentucky commitment, Greenway could easily fill the hole left by current Mystics rookie and former Wildcat Georgia Amoore.”
Amoore was an all-American point guard at Virginia Tech who transferred to UK last season to continue playing for coach Kenny Brooks and again earned All-American honors.
USA Basketball announced Thursday that Greenway was one of 27 athletes invited to participate in the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team trials at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs starting June 18. The final 12-member roster is expected to be announced following trials and the team will travel to Brno, Czechia, for the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup from July 12-20.
Five incoming college sophomores will compete in the trials along with eight incoming college freshmen that include Kentucky Miss Basketball ZaKiyah Johnson, a LSU signee. Greenway is one of 12 high school seniors to be — along with Oumou ‘Mimi’ Thiero, the sister of former UK player Adou Thiero — along with three juniors.
Seven members of the USA’s gold-medal winning team at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup will compete in the trials.
Court coaches for trials will be Carley Thibault-DuDonis and Aaron Roussell, both of whom will work with USA Basketball for the first time.
Thibault-DuDonis has been the head women’s coach at Fairfield University since 2022, leading her team to back-to-back MAAC regular season and tournament championships and a pair of NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament appearances.
Roussell, the head coach at the University of Richmond since 2019, is the 2025 ECAC Coach of the Year and two-time back Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2024 and 2025. Over the last two seasons, the Spiders have a combined 33-3 conference record. In April, Richmond advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.

The Lady Cats won’t have to worry about the point guard position for 4 years once Greenway gets to Lexington.
with you Jimmy
Greenway might be the best Wildcat to ever wear the blue and white. I think she comes and starts as a freshman. Brooks doesn’t like to start freshman but she will definitely start and she will have a great center playing with her. She will break the assist record by any freshman to play for Kentucky.
