After trailing by 19 points at the break, the Kentucky All-Stars very nearly came all the way back Saturday night. Led by the play of Max Green, Travis Perry, and Quel’Ron House, the Kentucky team got as close as three points inside the final minute before the Indiana All-Stars found a way to hold on for the 92-89 win in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, in Indianapolis, to gain a split in the annual summer basketball series.

An 11-2 run midway through the first half and a 10-0 run to close the half told the story for Indiana during the opening half as they took a 50-31 lead into the break. The 19 point lead was the largest of the first half.

Kentucky had no answer whatsoever for Indiana’s Flory Bidunga, who ran wild to the tune of 18 points and 10 rebounds in the first half. Jack Benter and K.J Windham also hit double figures with 13 points and 11 points respectively.

Max Green continued his effort from Friday night, scoring 9 points and pulling down 3 boards in the half.

The Kentucky All-Stars had plenty of trouble getting the ball to go in the basket in the opening half. Kentucky shot just 36.4 percent from the field and just 30 percent from behind the 3-point line.

The Indiana All-Stars had a much better half shooting the ball, knocking down 51.3 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from behind the arc.

Not only did the Hoosiers shoot better, they owned the glass in the first half, winning the battle of the boards, which was not much of a battle, 31-11.

The Kentucky team shot better in the second half and that enabled them to make their big run to give the Hoosiers a serious scare. House scored 18 in the second half run. Green had 16 in the second and Travis Perry added 12, but it was just a little short in the end.

Kentucky shot 53.5 percent in the second half, bringing the game shooting percentage up to 46.1 percent. Also, after getting outrebounded by 20 in the first half, the Kentucky stars won the second half rebounding battle by 8.

Max Green finished with 25 points to lead Kentucky. Quel’Ron House added 24. Mr. Basketball Travis Perry finished the night with 17 points.

Flory Bidunga led the way for the victorious Indiana team with 31 points and 15 rebounds. Jack Benter added 16. Five Indiana players hit double figures in the game.

Lyon County’s Brady Shoulders ended up with 7 points and 5 rebounds for the Kentucky team. Christian County’s Derrell Bateman had 3 points and 7 rebounds. Hopkinsville’s Antonio Williams did not score for the Kentucky All-Stars.
