J.D. Shelburne was “very honored” to be part of Harrodsburg’s 250th year celebration Friday night when he entertained a large crowd with his music.

A few hours earlier his “Cars & Trucks” video teaser came out. CMT has once again picked up the video, which he says is one of his favorite videos ever. This is the eighth time Shelburne has had a video go on CMT.

“I had never played a show like this in Harrodsburg so I wanted to throw in a few of my favorite covers, tell some stories and share some of my songs,” he said. “Town celebrations are always fun.”

He does a lot of shows in small towns in Kentucky since he’s a small town guy himself from Taylorsville. One fan brought him a UK guitar at Friday’s show. Fans lined up after his show to buy his T-shirts and get autographs and photos but he also posed for plenty of photos before the show.

Shelburne will be doing another one of those small town shows July 4th in Danville. That will also be the first time he’s done a show in Danville.

“They have asked me to headline the July 4th festival downtown. It should be a big celebration with fireworks and I am really looking forward to it,” he said.

Shelburne also announced Friday he would be singing the national anthem Aug. 15 when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Los Angeles Dodgers. He already had a show scheduled in Milwaukee Aug. 14.

Shelburne has opened for numerous national groups including ZZ Top and performed with the Oak Ridge Boys. He headlined the last NASCAR race at Kentucky Speedway and did the last show at Cardinal Stadium with Montgomery Gentry before the stadium was demolished.

“My life journey has been very exciting. I love seeing folks who have been at my shows and they talk about how they like what I do. To look back at where I started and where I am now is incredible,” Shelburne said.

The country music singer performed wearing a “2024 Super Bat Cats” T-shirt from Goose21Tees in honor of Kentucky playing in the College World Series for the first time this afternoon.

“My Kentucky clothes have been in the back of my closet since UK lost in the NCAA (to Oakland). Now Kentucky baseball has me excited again,” he said. “I watched the game that sent them to the World Series. I live beside a couple of die-hard Tennessee fans and I am always ragging them.

“For years I thought Kentucky was a basketball school but I had to get a baseball shirt. I spent my whole life playing baseball and basketball and if they win the World Series I am not sure what I will do. My wife might not be able to live with me.”
