Collin Whittington played his first round of the high school golf season on Monday after returning from Governor’s Scholars, and placed seventh in the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club High School Invitational.
Whittington shot a 2-over-par 73 in the event, which featured over 100 entrants.
Whittington made the turn at 4-over 39, but played the back nine at 2-under, recording birdies on Nos. 11 and 18 to end up in a three-way tie for seventh.
Caldwell placed 12th out of 21 full teams in the tournament.
Cole Wyatt shot an 84, Scott Cortner 88 and Landon Mitchell 89.
Monday’s tournament featured a 30-minute weather delay with nearby thunder, but only light rain fell and golfers returned to the course after the brief stoppage around noon.
