
Emma Talley is just two shots off the lead after 18 holes at the LPGA Tour’s Portland Classic in the Great Northwest.
The Caldwell County grad birdied four of her last six holes on Thursday to finish with a 7-under-par 65 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon.
Germany’s Polly Mack holds the first round lead after blistering the course for a 9-under 63 that included seven birdies and one eagle.
Four players are tied for second at 8-under.
Talley is one of two players tied for sixth at 7-under. Her bogey-free round included seven birdies.
Talley hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation and had one sand save during her first round.
Talley will get an early start in Friday’s second round with a 7:48 a.m. Pacific time tee time.
