He saw an incredible growth spurt during his time at Hopkinsville High School, both in terms of his physical size and in his game on the court. Now, Jamarion Sharp has worked his way up the ladder to an NBA contract.
Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reported Friday that Sharp has signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks. Haynes’ report and others indicate that the deal is likely a training camp deal, so that the Mavericks can retain Sharp’s G-League rights.
After graduating from Hopkinsville High School, Sharp, who now stands at 7 feet 5 inches tall, started his college career playing two years at John A. Logan. When his time was up at John A. Logan, he then transferred to Western Kentucky University, where he played two more seasons. Sharp earned the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year award both years he played in Bowling Green.
As college basketball’s tallest player at the time, Sharp finished his college eligibility with a year at Ole Miss for his final season.
