A state championship is a pretty good way to start off the new athletic year for Heritage Christian Academy. That is just what happened Monday on the golf course at Owl Creek Country Club in Louisville.
HCA’s Carson Powell, who has been playing well here at the start of the season, finished his round strong and took a 4-shot win in the KCAC boys’ state championship.
Powell shot a 41 on the front nine and then locked in to shoot a 39 on the back nine to finish his day with a round of 80. That score was four strokes better than the runner-up from Highlands Latin.
