Hoptown Girls Roll to Scrimmage Win at Webster

Five players found the back of the net on Monday and Jaliegha McFarland earned a shutout in goal to send the Hopkinsville girls’ soccer team to an 8-0 scrimmage victory over hosts Webster County.

With the mercy rule reduced to eight goals this season, the Lady Tigers finished things with thirty minutes to spare.  Grace Cansler led the way to two goals and a pair of assists, and Kaydon Coats and Azaa Enkhtugs each scored twice and added an assist.  Rebecca Wood and Kaylyn Lynch each finished with a goal and an assist.

The Lady Tigers will open the season on August 14 with a trip to Lyon County before playing their first match at the Stadium of Champions on Saturday against Paducah Tilghman.

Hoptown and the Lady Lyons have tied their last two meetings, 4-4 in 2021 and 3-3 last season.  The Lady Tigers have dominated the series with Paducah Tilghman, winning the previous seven matches by a combined score of 49-4.
