With the regular season set to open next week, the Christian County Lady Colonels took to the pitch at the Stadium of Champions Monday evening. The Lady Colonels hosted the Lady Patriots from Allen County-Scottsville in a preseason scrimmage matchup.
A goal inside the final 60 seconds enabled the Lady Patriots to head home with a 1-1 tie against the Lady Colonels.
The two teams battled through a scoreless first half. Allen County-Scottsville controlled play early and had some chances to get to the early lead. The Lady Patriots lost last season’s leading scorer Gabrielle Corbett during the first half when she suffered a knee injury in a collision with Christian County goalie Jayda Turner.
The Lady Colonels broke through early in the second half when Jayleigh Campbell found the net to put Christian County up 1-0.
That score held until the waning moments when Gabby Garcia broke open and scored to even things up at 1-1.
Christian County is set to open the season August 13 on the road at Paducah Tilghman.
