Caldwell County’s girls picked up a preseason win on the soccer field Tuesday night.
The Lady Tigers scored three first-half goals and held on to beat the Owensboro Apollo E-Gals 3-1 at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
Caldwell found the net three times in a 14-minute span in the first half.
Aliya Towns booted home the first tally of the night. She scored from the right side in the 19th minute after a scramble in front of the net left the Apollo goalkeeper on the ground.
The Lady Tigers went up 2-0 in the 27th minute when a crossing pass from the left corner by Emilee Klidzejs wound up going off a defender and found its way into the far side of the net.
Lexie Sullivan scored with help from Addie Middleton in the 32nd minute to send Caldwell to the break with a 3-0 edge.
Apollo kept Abbey Gill from getting the shutout in the net when the E-Gals came up with their only goal of the night in the 73rd minute.
It was the final preseason outing for Caldwell, which had lost 1-0 at Owensboro High School in a scrimmage last Thursday.
The Lady Tigers will open the 2024 regular season at home on Monday against Trigg County.
