
The Caldwell County Tiger football team was held out of end zone in its first preseason scrimmage Friday night at Hancock County.
The host Hornets outscored Caldwell three touchdowns to none during the varsity portion of the scrimmage.
The Tiger offense struggled to mount much of a running attack against Hancock. Meanwhile, the Caldwell defense was burned by some long passes on third and fourth down.
Caldwell’s junior varsity did better when it was on the field. The Tiger JVers produced three touchdowns while holding Hancock without a score.
Caldwell will host Owensboro Apollo for its final scrimmage next Thursday at 6:30 at Tiger Stadium in Princeton.
The Tigers will kick off the regular season on Friday, Aug. 23, against Hopkins County Central.
