UHA Golfers Finish 6th at Paducah Tilghman Invite

University Heights Academy sophomore Cal Givens had the low round of the day for Blazer golfers in the Paducah Tilghman Invitational on Saturday.

Givens shot a 7-over-par 78 at Paxton Park Golf Course. That earned him a tie for 11th place individually and helped UHA take sixth place in the team standings.

Givens had three birdies during his round, but also totaled six bogeys and a pair of double bogeys as he finished seven shots behind the leaders.

Courtland Gibson was next for UHA with an 83 while Hayden Hunt shot an 84. Gibson tied for 25th while Hunt tied for 30th.

Jackson Flynn carded a 93 while Hugh Sisk shot 94 for UHA, putting them 59th and 60th, respectively.

Landon Hunt of McCracken County claimed medalist honors after he, Ryan Stokes of Marshall County and Paducah Tilghman’s Evan Hack all finished 18 holes at even-par 71. Hunt took first place with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.

UHA had a team score of 338 to place sixth.

Marshall County won the team title at 303 while Paducah Tilghman was runner-up at 305.

McCracken took third at 312, followed by Daviess County (322) and Owensboro Catholic (323).

UHA also fielded a ‘B’ team in the event.

That team totaled a score of 387, led by Bryson Turner’s 84.

Drew Fields, Waylon Johnson and Jackson Crick each shot 101.

Nash McAfee shot 112.
