When we had University of Kentucky gymnasts Jill Procasky, Sharon Lee and Delaynee Rodriguez on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports Talk recently we discussed NIL opportunities being created for UK female student-athletes by the W1974 Collective.
Co-host Anthony White, a former UK all-SEC football player, suggested a talent show involving UK athletes might be fun.
W1974 Collective board member Joni Fowler admitted White “inspired” the trio and that is a major reason there will be Back To School Karaoke with UK gymnastics Aug. 25 from 3-5 p.m. at Night Kitty Karaoke Bar (545 S Broadway #185) in Lexington. The alcohol-free event is for all ages and space will be limited.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased for the NIL event here.
Other UK gymnasts joining Procasky, Lee and Rodriguez include all-American Isabella Magnelli along with Creslyn Brose and Kaila Lawrence.
Fowler said the collective and the gymnasts were looking for “novel NIL ideas” and liked White’s suggestion involving music.
“Someone called me from the karaoke bar adjacent to campus and said they use it for private/birthday parties and would love to have UK athletes come do something,” Fowler said.
Fowler said the six gymnasts quickly agreed to participate and now she is hoping UK fans will do the same thing for the new NIL event.
“It is a great way to meet some of our star gymnasts,” Fowler said.
Magnelli is an all-American on the beam while Brose is strongest on floor. Rodriguez’s speciality is the all-around competition.
The W1974 Collective is hoping this small event will be a success for fans and the gymnasts and lead to more similar team events for other UK female athletes.
