It was not exactly the start to the 2024 soccer season the Hopkinsville Tigers were looking for. Murray controlled the pace of play from the beginning of the match and rolled to an 8-0 win over the Tigers from the east side of the lakes.
The match came to an end about 15 minutes into the second half when Murray scored to push the lead to 8-0 and bringing into play the newly modified eight-goal mercy rule.
Murray was paced by Nate Wyatt, who scored three of Murray’s first four goals. Oliver Rosa had two. Anderson Compton, Brodie Morris, and Kellen Crouch had one goal each for Murray, who built a 7-0 lead by halftime.
Hopkinsville (0-1) will have its home opener and begin 8th District play Wednesday night when the Tigers host Fort Campbell at the Stadium of Champions.
