It was ‘hats off’ to University Heights Academy’s Griffin McCoy Thursday night. The Blazer senior scored three goals in the first 18 minutes of UHA’s home opener against Paducah Tilghman as the Blazers took a 3-1 win.
McCoy scored his first goal in the 8th minute of the match off an assist from Logan Miller.
Just a minute later McCoy found the net again, this time of an assist by Hugh Sisk to make it 2-0.
McCoy completed the hat trick in the 17th minute on a penalty kick to put the Blazers up 3-0, a lead which would carry into the break.
Tilghman avoided the shutout on a penalty kick with 25 minutes left in the match.
Eli Finch had a solid night in goal for the Blazers, finishing with 2 saves.
University Heights (1-1) is back in action Monday night on the road at Lyon County in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
