Cooper Collins Qualifies for All A State Golf Tournament

Cooper Collins will play in his first All A Classic State Golf Tournament after a third-place finish Thursday at region.

The Lyon County junior shot an 82 to finish tied for third at the Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter. University Heights Academy’s Cal Givens won the individual championship with a 5-over par 77.

Collins qualified for the state tournament as one of the two lowest scores from players not on the first-place team (University Heights Academy).

Carson Collins carded an 89 to finish in a 10th-place tie.

Colton Gobbins was 15th with a round of 91 followed by Jonah Ramey’s 98 and Cowen Wiggins’ round of 104.

As a team, Lyon County totaled 360 points to finish in third place. Lyon County (323) was first with Livingston Central (347) second.

The Boys All A Classic State Tournament will be played on Saturday, September 7 at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
