Cal Givens was the lone golfer to shoot in the 70s on Thursday and claimed the Second Region All A Classic golf title at Drake Creek Golf Course in Ledbetter.
Givens’ round helped the Blazers win the team title by 24 shots over second-place Livingston Central.
It was a solid day for the Blazers who had the top two golfers and placed four in the top 10.
Givens shot a 39 on the front nine and 38 on the back for a 5-over par 77. He was three shots better than teammate Hayden Hunt who shot an 80, thanks to a 38 on the back nine.
Bryson Turner had a career day with an 82, good for a third-place tie.
Courtland Gibson tied for fifth place with an 84, and Jackson Flynn tied for 20th place with a 100.
UHA’s team total of 323 was their lowest of the season.
It’s UHA’s first All A region title in five years, which was also the last and only time UHA has sent a boys and girls golf team to the All A Classic State Tournament in Richmond.
The All A State tourney will be played on Saturday, September 7 at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
