Quarterback Brock Vandagriff has been a hit with his University of Kentucky football teammates since arriving from Georgia much like Will Levis was a few years ago when he transferred from Penn State to Kentucky.

However, Levis was a bit of a different personality who also made a name for himself eating bananas without peeling them and adding mayonnaise to his coffee. Now even though he’s in his second year with the Tennessee Titans he just launched a mayor-driven perfume —Will Levis No. 8, Parfum de Mayonnaise.

I doubt we will see any antics like that from Vandagriff. He has turned off his social media accounts to focus on the season and has a strong faith that guides what he does off and on the field.

It did not take long for teammates to realize how much Vandagriff’s faith meant to him.

“His faith in God is so strong. He’s so holy or something like that and I mean that in a good way,” running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye said.

The UK running back said the Georgia transfer does not even curse.

“He shortens his cuss words. He’ll say ‘shiii’ or ‘fudge.’ You know what I’m saying? Just different things like that. That’s pretty cool about him. He’s pretty pure, I would say. A down-to-earth guy that everybody really likes who has his way of doing things,” Sumo-Karngbaye said.

  1. My dad has always said shiiiiii so I say it too. If I cussed I front of my grandma or mom I got smacked in the mouth. That taught me at a young age to bite know my tounge around my elders.

  2. Those who live & express the Life of the Lord Jesus in their daily living, in their actions & words, without even mentioning their faith, allows the Lord to impart the Spirit into others through such a vessel. The results may not be quick, but will be solid & those with any openness in their heart will be blessed beyond measure.

Very pleased to have Brock as the premier UK QB, even before I knew he was a man of God. May He be strengthened, empowered, encouraged, uplifted, kept from injury, and keep the faith in every situation & challenge.

  3. How wonderful for a young man to express his faith in his actions. Unfortunately so rare these days in athletes. May God be with him and the entire team this season. GO CATS!
