
The Christian County football team wrapped up its preseason schedule with a pair of one-half scrimmages at Fort Campbell’s Border Wars on Friday at Fryar Stadium.
The Colonels fell 14-6 to Northeast, TN, in the opener before a 14-0 loss to Northwest, TN, in the nightcap.
Trailing 7-0, Tristan Dillard got the Colonels on the scoreboard with a 10-yard run around the left side. The two-point attempt was unsuccessful, leaving Christian County down a point with 5:17 left in the first quarter.
Northeast closed out the scoring on a 15-yard TD pass with 1:57 left in the opening quarter before the teams played a scoreless second quarter.
In the second matchup, Northwest jumped on top with a 75-yard scoring connection from Braden Ellis to Anthony Holland with just a minute and a half played in the first quarter.
Still leading 7-0, Northwest tacked on a second touchdown with 46 seconds left in the game on Antonio Albury’s six-yard run.
Jimmarion Byrd had a pair of fumble recoveries for the Colonels on the night, and Paul Abren had an interception.
Christian County will kick off the regular season on Friday on the road at Warren East.
