Defense was the story of the day Saturday for the Christian County Colonels. The Colonels did not allow a goal for the day as they picked up wins over Bullitt Central and St. Mary.

In the opening game of the day, the Colonels only found the net once, but that was plenty as Christian County took a 1-0 win over the Cougars. Valentin Gonzalez scored the only goal of the contest, coming off an assist from Christian Lopez.

The Christian County offense then came alive in the second contest against St. Mary. The Colonels scored five goals in the first half and then added three more in the first 17:29 of the second half of the match to close out an 8-0 win.

Alex Hale had two goals in the first 40 minutes, both coming on assists from Noah Davis. Davis also had a goal of his own in the opening half. R.J. Nolte and Jensen Nolte scored a goal each for Christian County in the half.

Zach Dawes, Leland Creamer, and Wyatt Fleming scored goals in the early moments of the second half to close out the match on the 8-goal rule.

With the two wins, Christian County wraps up the opening week of the regular season at 3-1. The Colonels are set to get back to action Tuesday night on the road at Trigg County.
