The Madisonville-North Hopkins girls had a fun time in their home opener Saturday morning.

Madison Hill had a hat trick as the Lady Maroons rolled past Christian County 8-0 at Donley Field.

Hill scored three of the first four goals of the game — netting her first goal less than a minute into the contest and recording her third goal on a penalty kick in the 20th minute.

The match lasted just 40 minutes due to the mercy rule, which was lowered from 10 to eight goals this season.

The Lady Maroons (1-1) dominated play, recording a 32-0 advantage in shots.

Hannah Davis put Madisonville up 2-0 in the 14th minute when she finished in front off a rebound.

Hill’s second goal came in the 16th minute.

She then got her hat trick after Christian County was called for a hand-ball in the box, converting the PK to make it 4-0.

Kailey Barber scored on a shot from the top of the box in the 22nd minute.

Taylor Barber followed with a goal in the 27th minute when she curved in a corner kick to extend the margin to 6-0.

Brooklyn McCracken connected for the seventh goal in the 34th minute on a long shot.

Brylee Baumgardner made it 8-0 in the 39th minute.

Taylor Barber had a pair of assists while Kailey Barber, McKinley Wilson, Macy Wright and Katelynn Howard each had one helper.

Christian County goalkeeper Jayda Turner recorded 10 saves.

Madisonville, which suffered a 2-0 setback in its opener at Marshall County last Monday, is scheduled to go to Henderson County this Monday.

Christian (0-3) will visit Hopkins County Central on Monday.
