
A short-handed Heritage Christian Academy team put up a battle early but ultimately dropped their opening round game Saturday of the consolation bracket at the KCAC state soccer tournament. Frankfort Christian scored three straight goals to get to the lead in the first half and then rolled on to an 8-2 win over the Warriors.
HCA took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 12th minute. Frankfort Christian responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead.
The Warriors looked to have some momentum going their way with a goal in the 31st minute that cut the lead to 3-2. However, Frankfort Christian scored two goals over the final 9 minutes of the half to take a 5-2 lead into the break.
The Warriors, who were playing with only 10 players for the weekend, would end up playing the final 20 minutes of the match with only 9 players.
Frankfort Christian would add three more goals over the final 40 minutes to get to the final six goal margin.
HCA is set to get back to action Tuesday against University Heights Academy in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
