Yoni Damian scored a hat trick to lead Calloway County past Trigg County 8-0 in a Class 2A Championship Saturday night in Murray.
The junior has scored seven of Calloway County’s 16 team goals in 2024 as the Lakers are off to a strong 3-0 with wins over Graves County and McCracken County.
Anthony Alvarado, Oscar Avila, and Canaan Bazzell scored in the game’s first 22 minutes before Damian recorded the natural hat trick.
Brandon Vanmetre’s goal with 19:29 ended the contest with the new eight-goal mercy rule.
The win was Calloway County’s sixth straight over the Wildcats dating back to 2008.
Trigg County will host a pair of games this week, starting with Christian County on Tuesday and Ohio County on Thursday.
