The Todd County Central Lady Rebels very nearly fought their way all the way back into it Monday night as they opened the 2024 volleyball season on the road at Muhlenberg County. After dropping the first two sets, the Lady Rebels pushed the Lady Mustangs close to the limit before falling in four sets.

It looked for a while like Muhlenberg might come up with the sweep in the opener, The Lady Mustangs took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-18 to go up 2-0 in the match.

But give the Lady Rebels their due, they did not go away and make things a bit uneasy for the Lady Mustangs and their fans before the night was done.

Todd County Central fought back to take the third set 27-25 to pull within 2-1 in the match. The fourth set saw the Lady Rebels battle to the very end, and nearly take it to a 5th set. But this time, it was the Lady Mustangs who took a 27-25 set win and closed out the match three sets to one.

For the Lady Rebels, Allyssa Wofford had a huge night, finishing with 13 kills. Aubri Penick added 7.

Shelby Holderman was exceptional at setting the table for the rest of her team. She finished with 21 assists for the night.

Allyssa Wofford and Josie Williams led the Lady Rebels with three service aces each.

Todd County Central (0-1) is now off until Friday. The Lady Rebels will head up to Owensboro to take part in this weekend’s Summer Slam at Apollo.
