
Four different Falcons scored goals, and John Arnold was stellar in the net, as Fort Campbell advanced past Caldwell County 4-1 Tuesday night in the 2nd Region All A Classic semifinals in Eddyville.
Fort Campbell (1-1-1) will next host University Heights Academy (3-1) for the regional All A crown on Thursday.
Caldwell (0-4) outshot the Falcons 24-12 in the contest, but Arnold had 15 saves to help keep the Tigers in check.
Meanwhile, Fort Campbell scored three goals midway through the first half to take control.
Ryan Brewer had the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute when he turned and put a long shot over the Caldwell goalkeeper.
Fort Campbell then struck again less than a minute later when Mateo Cerritos Gatto dribbled into the box and scored to put the Falcons up 2-0.
Aiden Ward then scored with help from Chase Cribbett to extend the margin to 3-0.
Caldwell threatened to get back in the match though.
Kale Turmero scored on a penalty kick in the 31st minute to get the Tigers on the scoreboard and cut the margin to 3-1.
Caldwell was then awarded another PK 6 minutes later and had a chance to make it a one-goal difference at halftime.
However, Arnold made a diving save in the net to maintain Fort Campbell’s two-goal margin.
Dylan McDonald helped put the match away for the Falcons when he converted a long free kick midway through the second half. That made it 4-1.
McDonald and Cerritos Gatto each had an assist in the contest.
The Falcons extended their lead in the all-time series to 32-7-4.
Fort Campbell will be looking for its first 2nd Region All A Classic championship.
UHA has won eight straight regional titles.
