
After opening their season with a loss to Webster County, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons got into the win column on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over visiting Hopkinsville.
Madisonville set the tone with a dominant 25-11 win in the opening set, followed by a 25-13 victory in the second. The Lady Maroons closed the show with a 25-18 decision in the third to hand the Lady Tigers a season-opening defeat.
The Lady Maroons served up 26 aces to power the win, including a team-high ten from Leah Moody. Kiera Williams added eight aces, Katie Beth Sutton added three, Kenzie Stoltz finished with two, and three others had one each.
Stoltz also led the way with seven kills, Moody had three, and Myla Hughes and Morgan Buntin each finished with two.
On Thursday, Hopkinsville will head to University Heights Academy to open 8th District play.
Madisonville will also be back in action on Thursday with a visit from Crittenden County.
