Caldwell County got another balanced effort while defeating Mayfield Thursday night in a tight match at the CAB gym in Princeton.
The Lady Tigers prevailed 25-19, 23-25, 16-14 in a match shortened to three sets after the freshman and JV matches ran long.
Caldwell (2-0) pulled ahead late in the first set to jump out to a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Tigers then appeared poised to finish off the match early when they opened up a 20-12 lead in the second set. However, Mayfield (1-1) rallied to take the set and force a deciding third set.
The third set was close all the way before Caldwell won the final two points of the night to finish off the victory.
Caldwell’s Brylee-Rylee-Kylee trio all had big games.
Brylee Butts had 10 kills, two blocks, three aces and two digs.
