Five goals in 13 minutes in the first half on Wednesday sent the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons to a 7-1 victory over Christian County at the Stadium of Champions. The Lady Falcons improved to 2-1 with their first district win while handing the Lady Colonels a fifth straight loss to start the season.
Fort Campbell had to wait 15 minutes for its first goal, but they came thick and fast after Alex Aubuchon opened the scoring with a shot from the middle of the 18-yard box. Just three minutes later, Abby Allen made it 2-0 when she dribbled across the top of the box and fired just inside the far post.
Abby Allen doubled her tally with just over 17 minutes left in the half, followed by Aubuchon’s second goal of the night when she cleaned up from close range on a loose ball after a corner kick. Anna Allen added the fifth two minutes later when she scored after another Lady Falcon corner kick.
Christian County dropped Carliah Hobson to a deep sweeper position after halftime and it slowed down the Lady Falcon attack, but they made it 6-0 when Anna Allen completed her brace with a shot from the top of the box to the low left corner of the goal.
Fort Campbell was on the verge of ending the game by mercy rule after Grace Stultz took advantage of a short Christian County goal kick to score into an empty net with just under 25 minutes left. However, the Lady Colonels would close out the scoring when Carlie Hobson picked up the ball in midfield and dribbled 25 yards before shooting past Fort Campbell goalkeeper Cyri Reed.
Christian County will look to get in the win column when Union County visits on Saturday.
Fort Campbell will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Hopkinsville.
