Facing a numbers issue on Thursday, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels put just 10 players on the soccer field for their match with Trigg County.
Lady Wildcat coach Jason Hite obliged by also playing with just 10 players.
Todd’s leading scorer and starting goalie were among those out of action. The end result was an 8-0 Trigg win which moved them above the .500 mark at 3-2.
Leiah Hite notched a hat trick for the Lady Wildcats, with her third goal with 24:39 left ending the game via the mercy rule.
Trigg County controlled possession throughout the contest, outshooting Todd 11-0 in building a 5-0 lead by halftime.
Maggie Wolfe floated a shot from just outside the goalbox on the right side to open the scoring for Trigg County. Her second goal of the season came in the game’s seventh minute.
Four minutes later, Hite found Hallie Joiner on a diagonal pass out front. Joiner banged home the pass for her sixth goal of the season and a 2-0 Trigg lead.
Hite scored her first goal of the night off a cross from freshman Lydia Redd in the 29th minute.
Redd then scored her first career goal with four minutes left in the half, unassisted from out top.
Lilli Richardson cleaned up a loose ball in front of the goal two minutes later to score her second goal of the season for a 5-0 Trigg lead.
Addison Humphries began the scoring for Trigg County in the second half with a tally four minutes in before Hite scored Trigg’s final two goals, giving her nine for the season.
Trigg owned a 16-0 advantage in shots.
The win was Trigg County’s 11th straight home win and 21st straight game without a loss on its home field. The only non-win in that span was a 6-6 tie with Fort Campbell in 2022.
It was also Trigg’s sixth straight win over Todd Central dating back to 2018.
Trigg County will put their home field streak to the test on Monday when they host Calloway County in a Class 2A sectional contest at the Complex.
Todd Central coach Charity Hannah said she hopes to have her full roster available next week. In the meantime, the Lady Rebels will host Monroe County on Saturday morning before a district home contest with Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday.
