Lady Blazers Sweep Past Hoptown to Move to 2-0

The University Heights Academy volleyball team made it two wins from two tries to start the season on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over 8th-District rivals Hopkinsville.  The Lady Blazers have won the last 20 in the series, including ten in a row in straight sets.

UHA cruised to a 25-11 win in the opening set, before taking control with a 25-21 victory in the second.  The Lady Blazers closed out the match with a 25-20 decision in the third.

Hopkinsville slipped to 0-2 ahead of a visit from Trigg County on Monday.  Lainey Stewart finished with four digs, two aces, and a kill for the Lady Tigers, and Madysen Taggart notched two kills, three digs, and a pair of aces.  Kyleigh Weber added four digs and served up an ace.

For the Lady Blazers, Olivia Oakley led the way with nine kills and three digs, Taylor Cantrell finished with eight kills, Niyati Patel had six, and Gretchen Durham added three digs.

UHA will look to stay perfect when they travel to Apollo over the weekend for matches with Trinity (Whitesville), Northeast, TN, and Green County.
