Maroons Beat North Oldham and Fall to DeSales in Weekend Soccer

The Madisonvile-North Hopkins Maroons continue to position themselves as one of the top soccer teams in the state. The Maroons traveled to North Oldham this week and squared off with some of the best teams in the central part of the state.

Friday night, the Maroons made two first half goals stand up as they took a 2-1 win over North Oldham. Dru Lile and Eli Redpath each found the net once in the opening half as the Maroons took a 2-1 lead into the half. Brighton Mier assisted on one of the scores.

Neither team was able to find the goal in the second half as the match finished with the same 2-1 score that went into the break.

Hunter Gamblin had a big evening in goal for the Maroons finishing with 8 saves.

Saturday’s match saw the Maroons be shutout for the first time as Madisonville-North Hopkins lost to DeSales 2-0. The match was initially reported as a 0-0 draw

With the weekend results, the Maroons now stand at 5-1 for the season.

Madisonville-North Hopkins is back in action Tuesday evening hosting Greenwood.
