It was a case of Clarksville Northwest having just a little bit more Friday night. Actually, it was having Moore, Bricen Moore that is.
Moore scored four touchdowns, two of them in the first quarter, as Northwest jumped out to an early lead and then rode it out for a 35-16 for a season-opening win over the Falcons on post.
Moore had a one yard run on the first possession to make it 7-0. Later in the quarter, he scored from four yards out to push the lead out to 14-0.
The Falcons cut into the lead in the final minute of the first quarter when J.P. Perryman threw a 31 yard touchdown pass to Eric Green to make it 14-8.
Bricen Moore found the end zone for a third time with 4:58 to go in the first half, running it in from seven yards out to push the lead back out to 21-8. Less than two minutes later, the Vikings hit for a 10 yard touchdown pass to take a 28-8 lead into the break.
Fort Campbell made a bid to get back in the game when J.P. Perryman found Torrance Dixon for a 14 yard touchdown past on the final play of the third quarter, trimming the lead to 28-16 heading into the final 12 minutes.
But there would be no big second half rally for the Falcons in this one. Northwest sealed the win when Bricen Moore scored his final touchdown of the night on a 10 yard scamper with 3:53 left in the contest to make it 35-16.
Moore finished his night with 10 carries for 57 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Keshawn Dixon was Fort Campbell’s leading rusher with 7 carries for 45 yards.
J.P. Perryman was 7-21-0 for 95 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons.
Northwest outgained the Falcons 249 to 142.
Fort Campbell had 47 yards rushing and 95 passing, while the Vikings had 172 on the ground and 77 through the air.
The Falcons did not help their cause by giving up three fumbles in the contest.
Fort Campbell opens the season at 0-1. The Falcons will hit the road next Friday night to take on Hopkins County Central in Mortons Gap.
