Warren East Delivers Early Knockout Blow in Win Over Christian County

The Christian County Colonels would certainly like to have a do over on the way their game started Friday night at Warren East. The Raiders scored twice before the Colonels ever had the ball on offense and never let their foot up off the gas as they rolled to a 55-6 home field win over Christian County.

Turnovers were very costly to the Colonels, especially in the opening quarter of the game. For the night, the Colonels had 5 interceptions and one fumble lost.

Warren East took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in just over two minutes to take a 7-0 lead.

The Colonels fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Warren East recovered the ball at Christian County’s 30 yard line. Less than a minute later, Dane Parsely, who rushed for a score on the opening drive, through a 19 yard touchdown pass to Jacob Miller to make it 14-0.

On their first possession of the night, the Colonels were stopped and then shanked the punt, giving the Raiders the ball deep inside Christian County territory. Moments later, Jackson McCool ran it in from two yards out and it was 21-0 with almost seven minutes to go still in the opening quarter.

And then it went from bad to worse. Less than a minute later, Jaydon Richey intercepted a Christian County pass and ran it back 8 yards for the score to extend the lead to 28-0.

After another quick possession for Christian County, the Raiders hit again. Dane Parsely scored from 5 yards out with 11:25 to go in the half, pushing the lead out to 35-0 and bringing the running clock into play. Jackson McCool scored his second rushing touchdown of the night not long after that, pushing the lead to 41-0.

The highlight of the night for Christian County came on the ensuing kickoff when Zyon Wharton ran it back 88 yards for the Colonels’ only score of the night, cutting the lead to 41-6.

Warren East scored once more before the half was out, this time it was a 29 yard touchdown run from Dane Parsley to give the Raiders a 48-6 lead at the break.

With the running clock, the second half played out quickly. Warren East reserves got in on the scoring with a touchdown midway through the final quarter to make it 55-6.

For the night, Warren East limited the Colonels to 69 total yards. Christian County finished with 19 yards rushing. The Colonels were 8-24-5 for 50 yards.

Christian County (0-1) will have two weeks to get ready for their next action. After an early bye week next Friday, the Colonels will take on Hopkinsville, September 6 at the Stadium of Champions.
