
Dawson Springs opened defense of its region cross country title with a first place finish at Saturday’s Christian County season opener.
The Panthers, who have won five straight Class 1A Region1 titles, were trailing in the team race after the second mile but finished strong to claim the team title by two points over Christian County (69-71). Murray was third with 73 points.
Sophomore Easton Bourland was the first Panther across the finish line in fourth place in 18:24.
Junior Deacon Dever placed 10th in 18:57, followed by Montgomery Johnston in 12th place in 19:01.
Rex Blue captured a 20th-place finish in 20:01, followed by Sean Stallins in 41st place (21:47), Riley Buntin in 66th place (23:12), and Preston Drennan in 68th place (23:18).
University Heights Academy’s Cole Glover won the race in 17:20.
