Wildcat Runners Take 5th Place at Christian County Opener

A pair of top 20 finishes helped the Trigg County cross country team finish in fifth place at the Christian County Season Opener on Saturday in Hopkinsville.

David Cavanaugh and Brody Renfroe steadily made their way through the field to finish in 16th and 17th place respectively. Cavanaugh covered the 3.1-mile course in 19:27, while Renfroe was five seconds back in a personal best of 19:32

Dekon Perry and Braxton Hargrove also recorded new bests at the meet. They hung together and placed 29th and 30th respectively in 20:59.

Dominic Skinner was 36th in 21:23, with Travis Cavanaugh 55th in 22:33 and Grant Gallogly 61st in 22:58.

University Heights Academy’s Cole Glover won the race in 17:20.

Trigg County totaled 106 points to finish in fifth place, 10 points behind fourth place Paducah Tilghman. Trigg’s seven runners were separated by just one minute and 56 seconds, the smallest margin of the 14 teams in the race.

Meanwhile, Allayah Hargrove was the lone girls’ runner for Trigg County. She finished in 39th place in a time of 36:11.
